Adelaide International Guitar Festival: Ali experiences some guitar culture in the Adelaide City reion of South Australia
More than any other instrument, the guitar, defines rock'n'roll. But in late November 2007. the true musical scope of the guitar will be on show for all to see at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival.
"The guitar is part of our culture," said legendary Adelaide guitarist Chris Finnen. "Years ago people had pianos in their kitchens. The guitar is the voice of today's people. The guitar is a flimsy instrument - it's only got six strings and a really small scope of pitch but people are still reinventing it."
The Adelaide International Guitar Festival gets underway on Friday the 23rd of November and will be held at various venues in and around the Festival Theatre until Sunday December 2nd.
Chris Finnen will be involved in a series of workshops, performances and discussion panels.
To book contact Bass on 131 246. Chris Finnen has also released a double DVD with detailed instruction on how to play the guitar. It's available for $45. Copies will be available at various festival venues.
