Tanunda Show - In the Barossa valley region of South Australia

On an old farm just out of Angaston, Jan Angas samples the delights of her vegie patch in the same way the early German wives and mothers did back when the Barossa Valley was first settled.

And in the kitchen of Farm Follies, the Silesian traditions continue as the jars of pickles and preserves mount on the shelves.

"You preserve them so you can use them later in the season," said Jan. There's be no hiding the delicious preserves on Saturday when the very best of the Barossa traditions will be on display as part of the judging at the 93rd Tanunda Show. Keep an eye out for Zimmy's Dill Cucumbers and an assortment of mettwursts and larchshinken. For legendary winemaker Robert O'Callaghan, the foods of the Barossa are just as important as the wines for which this region is rightly famous.

The 93rd Tanunda Show is on at the town's Recreation Park in Elizabeth Street. The judging takes place in the Show Hall.
