The Fleurieu Peninsula, has a myriad of things to enjoy, and has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in South Australia. An easy hour’s drive from the Adelaide CBD brings the traveller to the heart of this diverse and beautiful region.

An excellent base for the tourist is the Second Valley Caravan Park, located only metres from the beach and jetty at this popular coastal township. The park has 51 powered sites, and 21 unpowered campsites, together with all the facilities to ensure a pleasant stay.

There is an abundance of trees, a pergola area with outdoor settings, and two large covered gas barbeques for the free use of guests. The laundry contains an automatic washing machine and clothes dryer, and there is a shower block and amenities block.

Three comfortable cabins are available, featuring double beds, bunks, and a day/night lounge, and are equipped with a television,. cutlery, crockery and all the usual cooking utensils.

Alternative accommodation may be preferred in either 2 or 4 berth caravans which are fitted with full length annexes, and are equipped with a full complement of cooking and dining needs.

A concrete boat washing bay is on-site, and a childrens playground is adjacent. Good fishing from the jetty and the rocks will provide hours of fun for all the family, and a meal or two as well.

A boat ramp and marina are conveniently close for those who may prefer to fish off-shore.

The coastal scenery is outstanding, with spectacular cliffs, rocky headlands and secluded beaches, which in most cases, are easily accessible.

Wildlife is prolific on the Fleurieu, with kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, rosellas, corellas and yellow-tailed black cockatoos never far away.

Second Valley Caravan Park is an excellent base for those travelling by ferry to Kangaroo Island, as the Cape Jervis ferry terminal is only 18km from the park.

Walkings trails in the region are popular, and some of the most rewarding sections of the world famous Heysen Trail traverse the Fleurieu Peninsula.

In November 2002, the decommissioned HMAS Hobart was sunk offshore between Second Valley and Normanville, to create a unique and exciting dive site for adventurers, and an artificial reef for marine life.

Viticulture is a major activity throughout the Fleurieu, and scores of wineries allow the visitor the opportunity to taste and purchase their quality wines.

Only minutes from Second Valley Caravan Park is the Deep Creek Conservation Park, with magnificent scenery and a fascinating variety of plant and animal life. It is a favourite with nature lovers, photographers, and those who simply enjoy the peace and serenity.

For those planning to explore the southern Fleurieu region, the Second Valley Caravan Park is perfectly located, providing a comfortable and friendly base for a perfect holiday.
