Rawnsley Park Station Rawnsley Park Station: In the Outback region of South Australia

The surveying of Rawnsley Bluff and the surrounding areas took place in 1858 and in fact you can still see the cairn that the surveyers erected on the southeast edge of the Bluff when you take the walking track to Rawnsley Bluff and Wilpena Lookout. The Stations owners Tony and Julieanne Smith have with the assistance of their Managers June and Dick Mahoney turned Rawnsley Park Station into a focal point to explore the Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges area of northern South Australia. Rawnsley Park is a 3035 ha property at the southern corner of Wilpena Pound and is an easy days drive (430klms) from Adelaide along sealed roads. If you don't wish to drive there is a Stateliner Bus Service from Adelaide three times per week.

Activities at Rawnsley Park centre around the million dollar views of the Pound and surrounding Flinders Ranges and the rich traditions of Australia's outback sheep stations. There are 7 clearly marked walking trails to some of the local land marks with some great sounding names like Alison's Saddle, Twidale's Top, Kangaroo Gap Lookout, Pines Cave, Clem's Corner, Ferntree Waterfall and of course Wilpena Lookout. You can also take in the unforgetable scenery via a number of escorted horse riding treks or sturdy mountain bikes, both available at the Station. For visitors wishing to travel a little further afield, to Arkaroola or Lake Eyre there are Outback Flying Tours and Scenic Flights over the Pound to experience the massive rugged peaks of everchanging colours, with their beautiful backdrop of the surrounding countryside. If you like the idea of relaxed viewing of the Ranges, but would like to get a little closer to the action than the Flying Tours, the Station also runs 4 Wheel Drive Tours of half and full day duration. These depart the Station daily.

After your day of exploring you can also enjoy fine food in our Woolshed Restaurant overlooking Rawnsley Bluff.

Visitors to the Station have the choice of modern holiday units or the caravan park with it's varied bush camping, powered sites, park cabins, on-site vans, separate bus-group accommodation and all with modern amenities.
