Old Spot Hotel: At Gawler in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia

As the first hotel, and indeed, the first building, in the township of Gawler back in the 1830s, the Old Spot Hotel has shown many personalities, and seen many more pass through its doors. From a mere tent on the side of a dusty bullock trail, to a sprawling single-storey building housing a multitude of businesses including local Post Office, and even the morgue, to its current state, the Old Spot has been an integral part of the community of Gawler.

Traditionally, the Old Spot served the local farmers and business owners, and passing travellers, while more recently is known for welcoming local families and those passing through the area, as a great ‘local’ and a place where they can relax in a safe, cosy environment; an extension of their own lounge rooms.

Now trading in its third century, the Old Spot has a continuing vision to remain a welcoming meeting place, with exceptional quality, personalised customer service.

As a visitor to the Old Spot you can enjoy the country-style front bar, cold beer, TAB, 8-ball, video jukebox and drink specials. In the 80-seat bistro or sunny beer garden select from a delicious range of hearty meals or, for some light entertainment, pop into the gaming room with 20 of the latest machines.

The Old Spot Hotel is open 9am til late Monday - Saturday and 11am to 10pm Sunday.
