Monarto Zoological Park - Simply Natural
Monarto Zoological Park is one of South Australia's most beautiful nature sanctuaries and incorporates a natural wilderness sanctuary and an open-range zoological park which is combined in a centre for conservation and enjoyment of wildlife and nature. There are two ways you can view the park, both providing different experiences. You can take a bus tour of the 1000ha Park which takes you through African and Asian wildlife habitat areas where herds of exotic, grassland dwelling animals like Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope and Ostrich can be seen at close proximity. There are also guided walking tours that wind through mallee woodland to view the native birds and other wildlife in the area. Monarto also takes pride in their endangered species program including the Przewalski's or Mongolian wild horse and the Scimitar oryx. The multi-award winning Visitor Centre has excellent facilities including a nature discovery gallery, gift shop and a cafe-style bistro which provides light meals and refreshments. Excursion groups, social clubs and school group tours are welcome by contacting the Tours Co-ordinator on (08) 8534 4100 Catering for pre-booked groups is available on request.
