Little Bavarian WurstThe Little Bavarian Wursthaus: In the Fleurieu Peninsula region of South Australia

For generations, the very popular Wursthaus or ‘sausage house’, has been a common sight throughout the length and breadth of Germany. They are immensely popular with tourists and locals alike, and now, the same traditional and authentic gourmet sausages are available at the Little Bavarian Wursthaus at Yankalilla, in the heart of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. In a friendly and informal atmosphere, customers can choose from a variety of sausages and regional German bratwurst, made by a local European butcher using original recipes and flavoured with imported herbs and spices. The results are sensational!

These delectable sausages are the basis of the menu, and can be eaten on a bread roll with sauerkraut and onion as extras, or served on a plate on a bed of sauerkraut, onion, and/or home-made German potato salad. Customers can choose from the huge range of sauces and mustards that are available.

For the more conservative, wonderful hamburgers or egg and bacon rolls are also available. During the colder winter months, steaming bowls of goulasch, pea and ham, or potato and leak soup are popular.

Summer specials include authentic home-made German potato salad and wurst salad. No meal at the Little Bavarian Wursthaus would be complete without a cup of gourmet coffee or tea, served with a slice of apple strudel, baked cheese cake, tirmisu or a number of others.

A wide range of soft drinks, great milk shakes, smoothies, and home-made iced coffees and chocolates are also available.

And for a taste treat to complete the gourmet experience, try one of the Flavorama icecreams and yoghurts, made from natural products, and including fresh frozen fruits, berries and nuts, and served in a waffle cone. They are healthy and delicious.

The Little Bavarian Wursthaus can be found at 104 Main Road Yankalilla, phone (08) 8558 2899.
