APPLETREE COTTAGE at OAKBANK
It's hard to believe that this two story 1860's Georgian cottage once stood derelict in this secluded valley near Oakbank. But it did, until about 18 years ago when a couple of stud beef cattle breeders decided it might be fun to renovate, and supplement their farm income. "We acquired it by default as it came with the property, but we believe we have come up with something good."
Gai is not alone in her passion for the property. Her husband, now at home on their farm, was a pretty handy defender during (SANFL Australian Rules team) Sturts golden era back in the late 60's & early 70's. Brenton Adcock was a tower of strength in the back pocket for Sturt all those years ago.
"So what's an ex Sturt footy player doing now? Raising some pretty contented cattle".
"Can people come and enjoy the beautiful Adelaide Hills? They sure can and spend hours wandering around the place".
"Everybody loves it here, and as you take in the beauty, your troubles slip away".
"The peace is incredible and the cottages pamper to all your requirements, it's all here."Appletree Cottage is one of three cottages on the 200 acre property. Gum Tree cottage is early Australian style, built of stone and redgum. Lavender Fields offers a taste of provence, set in a 3 acre garden planted with lavender and pines.
