The Company Kitchen: At Angaston in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia
(Text & pictures supplied by Sightseeing South Australia)
In one of the most picturesque locations in the Barossa Valley you will find The Company Kitchen.
Dining on the verandah your view consists of panoramic vineyards and beautiful gardens. Inside the café you can look out through the large windows into the bright and peaceful landscape, enjoying the view throughout the seasons. As nature’s colours change, so to does the menu, utilising the freshest and finest ingredients of the region.
The new owners of The Company Kitchen, Mark and Susan Beadle, love the unique, village-style characteristics of the Barossa and are inspired by the café’s location each day.
This modern venue offers extraordinary meals with class in a relaxed environment. The menu features contemporary Australian cuisine with regional highlights and some German influences. Chef Mark has pursued his passion for food over many years and has extensive experience in the hospitality industry.
Mark’s enthusiasm for local produce is reflected in the seasonality of the menu. Mark varies his dishes slightly in order to bring out best flavours and textures when fresh produce is at its peak. With this in mind, Mark intentionally writes the menu with a degree of ambiguity to allow for substitution of available products.
Visiting the country markets each week and developing strong relationships with growers and suppliers has helped Mark and Susan improve their cuisine with these fresh, local elements.
Their regional food platters are a tasty treat featuring all the goodness of the Barossa. Delicious cakes are freshly baked on the premises throughout the week including Susan’s favourite, the fragrant Roasted Quince and Almond Cake.
For a light lunch, sample some CK Pizza on which goats’ curd melts into caramelised onion, sun dried tomato, baby spinach and basil or perhaps a leek and blue cheese tartlet topped with smoked salmon and greens.
For a more filling meal, try the chicken breast stuffed with pine nuts and herbs, wrapped in Linke’s smoked bacon and topped with a creamy garlic sauce.
The Company Kitchen provides a unique dining experience that fits somewhere in between expensive fine dining restaurants and deli style eating. The café is child friendly and you don’t need to get dressed up or empty your wallet to enjoy a delightfully indulgent experience.
You can walk in without a booking and sample a piece of cake with a coffee or treat yourself to a three-course epicurean feast complete with local wines and desserts. An exciting selection of boutique beers and wines are available.
The Company Kitchen is perfect for those explorers with limited time. You can call in, have a quick bite, soak up the serenity, and continue on your adventures to surrounding wineries and attractions.
The venue’s flexibility makes it a great place for functions. Mark and Susan can open for special events by arrangement and have access to other rooms on the premises for larger bookings. Beautiful weddings can be held on the front lawns where guests can linger over finger food and a sparkling drop of champagne.
For high quality food and a warm atmosphere, visit The Company Kitchen. It is open every day for lunch from 10am-4pm and for brunch on weekends and public holidays from 9.30am.
