Cafe Bravaria Cafe Bravaria: Victor Harbor

Many German settlers helped to establish townships of the Fleurieu Peninsula. This part of the region's heritage is reflected in the offerings at Café Bavaria in Victor Harbor.

Café Bavaria is located on Albert Place, at the top of Ocean Street, overlooking the reserve, with views of the ocean in the distance.

The view may be good but it is the food at Café Bavaria that sets it apart. German bratwurst, goulash and Bavarian tortes. For the sweet tooth, they offer cakes, apple strudel, beestings, cheesecakes, and pastries. All the traditional foods at Café Bavaria are baked daily, on site, using fresh ingredients.

They also serve a huge range of teas, including herbal and scented teas, and flavoured coffees. The beans are roasted in Adelaide and ground on the premises, adding to the atmosphere and giving you one of the freshest and richest cups you'll ever drink.

It's not only long blacks and cappuccinos either. Café Bavaria offers coffees served in a variety of ways, including Vienna Coffee, a Coffee Pick Up (using a double shot of coffee grounds) and Coffee Supreme, an indulgent variation on a macchiato, consisting of a short black, fresh whipped cream and flakes of chocolate.

Plenty of indoor and al fresco seating is available and the café is tastefully decorated with flowers at each table and paintings with a beach theme adorning the walls. All paintings are by local artists and are available for purchase.

Café Bavaria is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas every day and there's nothing like sitting outside on a sunny Saturday morning with a fresh coffee and a Danish as you watch the world go by. Café Bavaria is at 11 Albert Place. Phone 8552 7505
