BAY TO BIRDWOOD AND HEYSEN FESTIVAL: In the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia
Last year you might remember we caught up with some car enthusiasts at the National Motor Museum as they prepared for the Bay to Birdwood. I scored a lift with Matt Ford in his 1961 Ford Thunderbird Convertible as he fine tuned the car in readiness for the Classic.. an event open to cars more than thirty years old.. and built after World War Two.
Well next Sunday the alternate Bay to Birdwood Run takes to the road with beauties like this 1925 Rolls Royce and this 1934 Buick..... historic vehicles built before 1950.
About 1400 vehicles are expected to take part with entrants from interstate as well as three cars from England.
Keep an eye out for motoring history next Sunday as vehicles begin to make their way from Barratt Reserve at West Beach from 9am. They'll head along Tapleys Hill Road, then onto Anzac Highway, Greenhill Road, then across to Northeast Road and up to Birdwood.

And the Heysen Festival at Hahndorf commences next Saturday and continues until the 7th October.
The Festival focuses on the unique cultural heritage of historic Hahndorf and also acknowledges the achievements of its legendary resident Hans Heysen who lived and worked in the town for more than sixty years, prior to his death.
Heysen spent much of his time recording village life in and around Hahndorf. A special open day will be held at the Heysen property, The Cedars, on Monday September the 30th with tours of the historic house, the studios and the garden. It will also be open to the public for two evening sessions on October the 1st and 3rd. Bookings are essential.
And don't forget to drop into the Hahndorf Academy in the town's main street.. It will house the prestigious Heysen Prize Exhibition. For more details about the Festival contact 8391 7252. Or email Linda Ward lward@dcmtbarker.sa.gov.au
